Ocean Acidification

Ocean Acidification

Ocean Acidification is when more carbon dioxide enters the ocean. These extra amounts of carbon dioxide make the ocean more acidic. This makes it harder for animals with shells, such as oysters, to form their shells. Their shells are fragile and the shells are weaker and less protective if the ocean is acidic. The shells dissolve and leave the organisms unprotected. When businesses rely on shellfish for income, then problems arise. But not only are shellfish at risk, but huge corral collonies. Coral is dying because of the amount od carbon in the ocean. People have to lower the Ph of the water to help these creatures form and survive. This is already starting for some people, but for others it is a whole new territory. This started years ago, but has recently become noticed by scuba divers, businesses, and the common folk. Although this so called "Political" problem is being pondered by people, it is killing animals.

- The Carbon Cycle
Carbon Cycles:Carbon can travel from the atmosphere into many place such as plants like grass. At this point in time, the carbon dioxide is either released back into the atmosphere or if the plant dies, it is put into the soil. Even after this, the carbon...

- Calvin Cycle
The Calvin cycle is also known as the light independent reactions, as they can occur in the dark. It occurs inside the stroma of the chloroplasts. There are three stages: carbon dioxide fixation, reduction of carbon dioxide, and regeneration of ribulose...

- Q: Outline The Main Features Of A Krebs Cycle
The Krebs cycle occurs in the matrix of the mitochondrion. It occurs only in aerobic conditions, that is, only when oxygen is present. Its main function is to oxidise acetyl CoA generated from glycolysis. In the Krebs cycle, acetyl CoA and oxaloacetate...

- Week Eleven: Forward
Global Crisis in Diet I think my top priority would be for everyone to adopt Michael Pollan's idea: eat food, mostly plants, not too much. When I read that, my whole body smiled. I am beyond frustrated with misinformation on nutrition that is fed...
