Term: aneuploidy (an-+eu-+ploidy)
Origin: Anc Greek
??/an (=?-/a (privative meaning ?not?) or ??-/an-(=privative before a vowel)
??/eu(=prefix meaning "well, good, easy" )

-o?????/-oidis(=-oidy, suffix meaning ?form, type?).
Coined:
Lutz (1909) was the ?rst to report aneuploid chromosome numbers in two progenies of the interspeci?c cross between Oenothera lata and O. gigas. The term was coined finally in 1922 by Tackholm (1922) following his studies on genus Rosa and initially it was used for indi- viduals with one chromosome less or more than the standard complemen. Dyer et al. (1970) extended the term to cells and individuals where the loss or gain involved even a chromosome segment
Definition:
Deviation of normal chromosome leading to loss (monosomy) or gain of one (trisomy) or several individual chromosomes from diploid set of the correspomding species.

Chromosomal Aberration
Chromosomal aberration refers to a change in number of chromosomes, can occur on one, or several, or all of the chromosomes within a nucleus. This is cause by the failure of sister chromatids to separate during anaphase of mitosis or the failure of homologous...

Q: Compare And Contrast The Prokaryotic And Eukaryotic Genomes
The eukaryotic genome is diploid but the prokaryotic genome is haploid. The eukaryotic genome has multiple origins of replication but the prokaryotic genome has only one origin of replication. The eukaryotic genome may have more than one chromosome but...

Diploid Chromosome Number
Humans have a diploid chromosome number of 46 chromosomes. In other words, there are a total of 46 chromosomes in human cells. The diploid number varies depending on each species. Having a diploid chromosome number means that an organism?s cells contain...
