Coined: Marcello Malpighi (1628-1694) was the first who described pulmonary alveoli, capillaries, renal corpuscles, splenic corpuscles, and the Malpigian layer of the skin. Finally in 1819 the word ?histologie? coined by August Mayer (1787-1865) in his book Über Histologie und eine neue Eintheilung der Gewebe des Menschlichen Körpers
